African Starry Night was inspired by a night spent on a beautiful beach on Hilton Head Island with a handsome man. There is something special about holding hands, sitting on the sand, listening to the constant ebb and flow of the ocean with the stars blinking knowingly overhead. Such a setting is the perfect place for sharing dreams, fears and laughter.
The taupe, orange and blue colors that dominate the quilt, hopefully, capture the grandeur of nature from sand to sea to heaven, as well as, human fire and primal urges.
African Starry Night measures 63 x 79 inches and features a timeless rail fence pattern. The center of the quilt is framed by four borders. Finished August 26, 2006, it contains wool batting and was hand quilted with love over several months.
This quilt is part of my personal collection and is not for sale.
